Songs

I want to live again(Genre: Drum and bass)

A high-tempo, energetic song about the decision to continue living or not.

(You've Got To) Hold On(Genre: Synthwave)

A motivational and inspirational song that wouldn’t be out of place in a training montage in an 80s movie.

You Wouldn't Stand Out Amongst A Crowd(Genre: Disco)

A song critical of those who are popular for how they look rather than what they have to say. There is a furry subtext where “suit” also refers to an animal costume, and more generally, how most in the subculture receive more attention from simply wearing one.

A song expressing a person’s wish for their ex-partner to move on with their life. Written as an entry for Eurovision.

Stomp! Stomp! stomp!(Genre: Hardbass/Donk)

A song about the merits of being a macrofur (a giant-sized furry character).

The Greatest Injustice Of All Mankind(Genre: Industrial/Cybergoth)

A song seemingly about all the bad things in the world, until the chorus reveals the singer to be a whining teenager.

The Last Day of Summer(Genre: Ballad)

A heart-breaking ballad looking back on when a relationship ended, with a desire to move forward. Written to also be interpreted that the relationship ended because the other partner knew they would soon pass away.

Kagawa Kochi Tokushima Ehime (ALL MY POWER!!)(Genre: J-rock/pop/anison)

A theme song to a fictional anime, complete with Japanese lyrics and live drumming. Written with many cliches of this genre of music in mind to make it sound as authentic as possible.

Play With Your Toys(Genre: Electronic rap metal)

A song that on the surface carries an innocent message about how to play with toys, but has a very clear adult context. Performed from the perspective of a bad dragon, which adds extra meaning for those within the furry subculture.

Race to the Finish(Genre: Eurobeat)

A song about growing up and proving yourself. And driving fast.

Drifting Fantasy(Genre: Eurobeat)

A song about chasing after someone you love and hoping for them to notice you. And driving fast.

Pouncing UwU Goodbye(Genre: Pop/Dance)

A parody of Ukraine’s 2007 Eurovision entry “Dancing Lasha Tumbai”. The song is equal parts energetic, flamboyant, and cringey with lyrics mostly comprising slightly adult furry lingo.

A parody of “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. The song is written from the point of view of a popular member of the furry subculture, though with a critical eye, also considering if outward appearances are a true reflection of the person’s inner feelings.

A parody of “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. The song was written for and performed by the cheese-loving character, “Mausie”.

Remixes/Arrangements

Nerve cells (Remix)(Genre: Future bass)

A remix for the band Unzyme. Commercially released on Spotify and other streaming services. I took only the vocal line from the original song and created an entirely new song around it. Listen to the original song here.

Toxic (Remix)(Genre: Happy hardcore)

I used only the original vocal line to create a hyper, happy hardcore influenced dance track.

I reordered the verses and combined them together to emphasise a different phrase than in the original song. I also made use of the bass rhythm in various elements of the track as well as chopping the original synth line and backing vocals. Listen to the original song here.

Everybody Wants To Be A Cat (Remix)(Genre: Electroswing)

A bouncy and upbeat electroswing remix of an old Disney song.

An easily danceable remix for the band Unzyme. Listen to the original song here.

A string arrangement of a pop song by Unzyme. Listen to the original song here.

Stage shows

I create musical and theatrical stage shows for the furry subculture. I write the songs, scripts, and stage direction for these shows, as well as work with actors, singers, and dancers, as well as skilled choreographers and technical teams to create high-quality, entertaining shows.

Toy Town

I wrote and performed the opening ceremony of NordicFuzzCon 2023; the search for the hidden treasure of Toy Town. The stage show included performances of three original songs I wrote along with accompanying choreography.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! – A song about the joys of being a macrofur (a giant sized furry character). Rapped in a less-than-cool, slightly-too-old style à la Scooter, set to a hardbass track.

Popufur – A parody of Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” about the less pleasant (in)famous/popular individuals within the furry fandom, but with a sympathetic twist.

Play With Your Toys – A completely innocent rap metal track advising how to properly play with and share toys. Sung by a bad dragon, a furry ear may interpret a different meaning in this song.

Furovision

I wrote and performed the opening ceremony of NordicFuzzCon 2020; a parody of the Eurovision Song Contest. The stage show also included live singers performing four different songs that I wrote specifically for this show.

You Wouldn’t Stand Out Amongst A Crowd – A disco song critical of those who are popular for wearing a fursuit (animal costume) regardless of whether or not they have anything of worth to say.

The Greatest Injustice Of All Mankind – An industrial song seemingly about all the bad things in the world, until the chorus reveals the singer to be a whining teenager.

On The Hunt For Cheese – A parody of “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. The song was written for the character Mausie who loves cheese.

Pouncing UwU Goodbye – A parody of “Dancing Lasha Tumbai” by Verka Serduchka, Ukraine’s popular Eurovision entry in 2007. The song is equal parts energetic, flamboyant, and cringey. The lyrics mostly comprise slightly adult furry lingo.

Pouncing UwU Goodbye(Genre: Pop/Dance)

Pouncing UwU Goodbye – If YouTube has blocked the video for this song (due to its slightly adult nature) then you can listen to the audio here.

DALZIEL LIVE

I present my music and other creative work on stage. I give live performances of my original music under the title Dalziel Live. My live music performances blend the best aspects of DJ sets and a conventional live gig. I give the audience a danceable show with gapless music that comprises original furry songs and remixes, using a creative combination of technology and traditional musicianship.

Soundtracks

Videos

Epic orchestral score for a short animation I created alongside an animator.

Marching band music written for an animation I created with an animator.

Emotional and then uplifting music written to fit a promotional video for a charity.

Upbeat dance music for an online video. This was written modularly, as the final length of the video was unknown. This allowed me to create the music before the final cut of the video was produced.

Game: Duelity

Made for the Finnish Game Jam 2022, “Duelity” is a fast-paced, two-player platformer combat game with an 8-bit aesthetic. I created two pieces of music for the game. The title screen music is in an 8-bit style, and introduces part of the melody in the main level music. The main level music has an 8-bit intro, but quickly transforms into a modern dance track, while still retaining the simple and memorable melodies central to classic 8-bit music. I also created the game’s sound effects. Play the game online here.

Game: Sun Moon Coin Toss

This game was made for the Finnish Game Jam 2022, based on the very simple concept of guessing the outcome of a coin flip. I was asked to write a piece of music that was fitting to the simple and happy nature of the game. I created a latin-inspired track as well as all the sound effects in the game. Play the game online here.

Game: Sticky Fingers

“Sticky Fingers” is a game made for the Finnish Game Jam 2021. The team requested a crunchy Gameboy Advance style soundtrack to match the game’s art style. I took inspiration from the Wario Ware series of games by including wacky sound effects and writing in radically different styles for each level. There is one melody (or leitmotif) that is heard throughout the soundtrack in every piece of music, arranged and transformed to fit the varied genres. Download the game here.

Game: Strolling in the Rain

For my first Finnish Game Jam project in 2020, I wrote the music for “Strolling in the Rain”. I created a main theme which I then arranged in a variety of ways to suit different environments in the game. Each piece of music (other than the title screen) loops. Play the game here.

Cancelled podcast project

I was commissioned to write three pieces of background music for a podcast project which was ultimately cancelled. The setting called for a blend of cyberpunk/sci-fi themed electronic music coupled with orchestral strings. Across these pieces are two repeated musical phrases; one is used both as a melody and as an ostinato. These are unfinished demos.

Other/Misc.

Bits and pieces of music that don’t fit anywhere else.

A short, looping instrumental track in the style of the music from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4.

A cheesy jingle for the radio station Instanssi Radio.

A short piece of action music written for exact timing, including a ticking clock countdown.

A looping deep house track produced as background music for visuals.

A parody of the classic Disney movie opening music.

A parody of the classic Disney Home Video music.
